Delegation in Nursing Practice: A Nurse’s Guide

Delegation in nursing practice can be a daunting task especially for new registered nurses. However, knowing state practice laws, organization policies and procedures, and utilizing delegation guidelines from the state board of nursing as well as ANA and NCSBN, delegation can be a strategy for providing efficient nursing care to multiple patients/clients within a given time period. This CE will provide  participants with knowledge they can apply to their own nursing practice based upon the specific practice setting.

Session objectives:

  1. Describe delegation in relation to nursing practice
  2. Understand the basics of delegation and its application in different health care settings.
  3. Identify and synthesize delegation strategies that are conducive to promoting safe patient care outcomes.

Participants that complete the CE presentation and post-test/evaluation in their entirety and pass the post-test with 80% or higher, will receive an electronic certificate via email. RNs completing the activity will receive 1.0 contact hour of continuing education.

The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
