RNs urge the hospital to negotiate a fair contract that supports their work and the community
(Traverse City, MI) On Wednesday, August 22, the Michigan Nurses Association will begin a radio and online advertising campaign highlighting the quality care that Munson Medical Center nurses provide to patients. RNs are currently negotiating their first union contract and urge the hospital to bargain an agreement that will attract and retain skilled RNs to serve in the Traverse City area.
“Munson Medical Center is currently ranked #7 among Michigan hospitals by U.S. News and World report, and nurses have earned prestigious Magnet status,” said Carolyn Moss, one of the three Munson RNs featured in the radio ad. Moss is also a member of the bargaining team. “As nurses, we are simply asking for wages, benefits and working conditions that will continue to support high quality care. Our community deserves to attract and retain the best RNs.”
The radio ad features three nurses (Carolyn Moss, Kelly Lambert, and Melissa Boals), as well as two Munson Medical Center patients (Mary Jo Dent and Barb Eschner).
The ad and a community petition in support of nurses can be found at: www.munsonnurses.org
The Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) is the largest, most effective union for registered nurses in Michigan, advocating for nurses and their patients at the State Capitol, in the community, and at the bargaining table.
